Peugeot 208 Oil Pressure Warning

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2015 Peugeot 208 (gasoline engine). The speedometer lit up with a warning light, and the oil pressure warning lamp is on too. It has done 285244 km. Could this be related to an oil leak or something? I did check the oil level and it seems fine for now… though it looked a bit dark. I was thinking perhaps using some oil additives. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my 208. Dark oil and oil pressure warnings usually points to oil sludge. When was the last time you changed your oil and oil filter? This could be a possible cause.

Hmm, sludge… that sounds nasty! I think it's been a while since the last oil change. Perhaps I've exceeded the maintenance interval by quite a bit... Could that really cause such a big problem? What was the fix for your car?

Yes, exceeding the maintenance interval is quite often the reason, I'm afraid. Given the symptoms, it's very likely causing this. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked. They'll probably flush the system and change the oil and filter.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the maintenance interval. They changed the oil and filter, and flushed the engine. Cost me 165€, but the warning lights are gone! Lesson learned: don't skip those oil changes!
