Thanks for the info! A diagnostic scan was done, and it pointed to the flap motor. Is this something that I need to get sorted ASAP?

Confirming the error code, the flap motor is indeed the probable culprit. Given that overheating can severely damage the engine, I strongly advise immediate attention. Considering your vehicle's mileage (132459 km), a defective electromechanism is highly plausible. I would recommend scheduling a service appointment with a qualified technician to inspect and repair the active air flap system.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I've booked it in with a local garage. They've quoted 590€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. Hopefully, that'll sort it out.

Greetings. Your symptoms suggest a potential issue with the thermal management system, specifically concerning the active air flaps. I experienced a similar situation with my Opel Insignia. The flap motor became defective, triggering the check engine light and leading to overheating. Did you perform a diagnostic scan to retrieve the fault code?
