Peugeot 208 Overheating Coolant Loss

Morning. My 2012 Peugeot 208 diesel is showing odd symptoms. The check engine light is on, the engine's overheating, and I've noticed coolant pooling under the car. Seems like the cooling system's over-pressurizing. I suspect a control unit communication error might be at play. I've checked basic things, like coolant level and visually inspected the radiator hoses. Anyone experienced similar connectivity issue with these models?

Overheating AND a check engine light? That sounds rough. Have you had the codes read? A generic OBD2 reader might give you a clue, even if it's just a starting point. I'm a bit skeptical about a control unit error causing ALL those issues, but hey, stranger things have happened.

Yeah, I did pull the codes, and it's flagging a communication fault related to one of the control modules. Hence my suspicion. But with the overheating and coolant loss, I'm wondering if it's a faulty sensor providing incorrect data to the ECU, causing it to mismanage something and over-pressurize the system. Thoughts?

Okay, a specific communication fault code changes things. If it's a legit code, and you're getting overheating and coolant loss too, it sounds like you could have a defective plug connection on the component. I'd advise you to take it to the workshop. They will probably find the error faster.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on. It was indeed a faulty plug connection on the engine control unit. They cleaned the contacts and replaced a short section of damaged wiring. Total cost was 95€ Appreciate the help!
