Peugeot 208 Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Peugeot 208 with a gasoline engine is experiencing overheating issues, and the check engine light is on. The initial suspicion is a faulty radiator fan, but a faulty speed sensor is also considered a possible cause. After professional inspection, it is confirmed that the speed sensor was indeed the issue, and replacing it resolved the overheating problem.

Thanks for the reply. No strange fan noise. Could you tell me more about the sensor? Where is it located, and did you measure the voltage?

My issue was indeed related to the speed sensor. I recommend getting it checked professionally because the location is hard to reach. Head to a workshop, as you likely won't solve this on your own.

Thanks a lot for the insight! I took it to the workshop, and it was the speed sensor. A replacement cost me 250€, but at least the car is running smoothly again. Appreciated!

I had similar overheating issues with my 208. Does the fan make any strange noises, or is it not spinning at all when the engine gets hot? It could indeed be a faulty sensor messing with the temperature control. Is the fan blade obstructed?
