Peugeot 208 Oxygen Sensor Issue

Alright petrolheads, I'm having a headache with my 2015 Peugeot 208, gasoline engine. It's clocked 244520 km. The check engine light is on, and I've got an error code pointing to the oxygen sensor. I've also noticed my fuel consumption has gone up. I suspect it's a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone else run into this gremlin?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Peugeot 208 owner experienced a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an error code indicating an oxygen sensor issue. The suspected cause was a faulty cable or plug connection. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was suggested to inspect the wiring and possibly replace the oxygen sensor. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective sensor cable, restoring normal fuel efficiency and clearing the check engine light.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had something similar happen on my Peugeot 208. Check engine light, the whole shebang. I'd bet good money it's the O2 sensor. Have you had a look at the wiring to the sensor? Could be corroded or loose.

Yeah, I checked the wiring as best I could, didn't see anything obvious. Did you have the same symptoms, like the increased fuel consumption? Was it definitely the O2 sensor? I'm trying to avoid replacing the catalytic converter if I can!

Yep, increased fuel consumption was a big clue for me too. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, it really does sound like the O2 sensor. I ended up getting mine replaced. If you're not 100% sure, maybe get it checked at a workshop. They can test the sensor properly.

Thanks! I appreciate the insight. Took your advice and brought it to a local shop. Turns out the O2 sensor cable was indeed defective, just like you guessed. New sensor and cable, cost me 95€, and the car's running smooth again. Fuel efficiency is back to normal, and the check engine light is gone! Cheers!
