Peugeot 208 Radiator Oil Pressure Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Peugeot 208 is experiencing a radiator oil pressure issue, with transmission indicator and check engine lights illuminated, and the automatic transmission in emergency mode. The problem may be due to a defective cable or plug connection to the radiator oil pressure sensor. A faulty connection was confirmed as the cause, and repairing it resolved the issue.

The error message specifically mentions the radiator oil pressure sensor. I haven't checked the coolant level yet, but I haven't noticed any visible leaks. If it's the sensor, would that cause the transmission to go into emergency mode?

A faulty radiator oil pressure sensor could trigger limp mode if the ECU interprets the incorrect pressure reading as a critical fault that could damage the transmission. Still, given the symptoms, I'd recommend a thorough diagnostic check at a workshop before replacing parts. It's possible the sensor is a symptom, not the root cause.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the sensor, as suspected. Repair cost was 95€.

Interesting. Slipping and grinding definitely point towards transmission woes. Radiator oil pressure? Are you sure it's not a transmission oil cooler issue, or perhaps related to the cooling fan circuit? Have you checked the coolant level and for any obvious leaks around the radiator and oil cooler?
