Peugeot 208 Rain Light Sensor Fault

I've got a 2013 Peugeot 208 with a gasoline engine and a rain-light sensor fault. Symptoms are an error stored in the memory, no auto wiping in the rain, no auto headlight control, the speedometer dimming isn't working and the lights switch on randomly. Anyone experienced this before?

Hey, sounds like a dodgy sensor alright! Is the windshield original? I've seen bubbles forming under the gel pad causing weird issues on other cars. Might be worth checking visually before digging deeper.

Interesting, where exactly on the windscreen would I look for these bubbles? And what kind of deeper issues are you referring to? Is it worth getting the sensor recalibrated?

The bubbles would be right where the sensor sits against the glass, between the sensor and the windscreen. Recalibrating might help temporarily, but if the bubbles are the root cause, it'll likely come back. I'd say take it to a shop; they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the insights. I had a look and you were spot on about the bubbles! Took it to a shop and they replaced the sensor due to the degradation; cost me 62€. Everything's working perfectly again.
