Peugeot 208 System Readiness Issue

I've got a 2015 Peugeot 208 (gasoline engine) with 177470 km on the clock, and I'm running into a strange issue. The system readiness check is incomplete, and I'm seeing an error stored in the error memory, plus an error message pops up in the speedometer. This all started right after I had the car hooked up for OBD2 diagnostics. Could this be related? Is it possible that clearing some data during the diagnostics messed something up?

Interesting. Incomplete system readiness after OBD2 is a fairly common annoyance, especially with certain Peugeot ECUs. The diagnostics tool probably reset the readiness monitors. Are you sure that all systems are actually working? Does the car drive normally? Does it start without problems? All the car's systems need to run through their diagnostic routines to set the readiness bits. A specific drive cycle is often required.

Okay, that makes sense. A drive cycle... So, is there a specific procedure for this Peugeot? What exactly does one need to do to complete this drive cycle?

Yes, often the readiness checks are set according to a specific drive cycle. Without knowing what was scanned and cleared during the OBD2 diagnostics, it's tricky to pinpoint the exact monitors that are incomplete. However, some monitors take a lot of effort to set ready. Did you try looking for the specific drive cycle online? Or is it maybe better to book it in for a check?

Thanks for the advice! I managed to find a Peugeot-specific drive cycle online, followed it carefully, and after a couple of tries, the system readiness check finally completed. The error message is gone, and everything seems to be working perfectly. So it looks like you were right – it was just a matter of running the right diagnostics. All in all, it didn't cost me anything.
