Peugeot 208 Tailgate Hall Sensor Error

I've got a 2022 Peugeot 208 (electric) with about 169k km on the clock. I'm getting an error for the tailgate hall sensor. The tailgate isn't opening fully. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V60. The error memory also stored a sensor fault, and the tailgate operation was erratic. Have you checked the wiring and plug connection to the sensor? That's often the culprit.

Yeah, I had a look. Nothing obvious, but it's hard to get a good view. When you say 'erratic', did it open at all, or was it just completely dead?

In my Volvo's case, sometimes it opened a little, sometimes not at all. Given your mileage and the error code, I'd suspect a damaged cable due to wear. I strongly recommend taking it to a workshop before you end up with a bigger problem. They'll have the proper diagnostic tools and can check the wiring harness thoroughly.

Thanks. I'll get it booked in. Seems like the most sensible thing to do. Will let you know what happens. It was indeed the cable. Cost 95€ to repair.
