Good point about the error codes. I'll have to double-check that. However, it strongly indicates that the generator is faulty. Did you end up replacing the alternator, or was it something else?

Yup, alternator replacement sorted it. The voltage regulator inside the alternator was shot. It wasn't consistently providing the correct voltage, which in turn was causing the warning light and all kinds of weird electrical gremlins. I'd suggest getting the charging system properly tested rather than throwing parts at it, but given your symptoms, prepare for a new generator. Any mechanic can perform a quick output test to verify.

Thanks for confirming. Took it to my workshop as you predicted. Alternator was indeed defective, voltage regulator issues, as suspected. Repair cost 960€. Running smoothly now.

I've got a 3008 and your symptoms sound awfully familiar. Was getting voltage drops that played havoc with all the car's electronics. Weak battery and the starter motor was working overtime every morning. Are you getting any specific error codes besides the generic generator fault? Knowing the exact code helps narrow things down as the "generator" or "alternator" is responsible for providing electrical energy to the car.
