Peugeot 3008 Camshaft Sensor Fault

Yes, I have noticed intermittent engine misfires especially when the engine is cold. I'm leaning towards replacing the camshaft sensor but did you have the same fault code before replacing yours? I'm reluctant to replace it without knowing for sure.

Indeed, I had the same fault code, and the misfires were the key clue. While a faulty crankshaft sensor could mimic similar symptoms, the camshaft sensor error is quite specific. Given the mileage and the symptoms, it’s highly likely the sensor is failing, possibly due to the encoder wheel issue. I ended up taking mine to a reputable workshop. It's best to have it professionally diagnosed.

Thanks for confirming. Your experience is very helpful. I took it to my local workshop as you advised. They confirmed that the camshaft sensor was faulty and that the encoder wheel on camshafts was defective. The total repair cost me 695€ including replacing both the sensor and the encoder wheel.

I have a 3008 too, and those symptoms sound awfully familiar. I had a similar problem not too long ago. Did you also notice any engine misfires, particularly at lower RPMs, before the camshaft sensor error became consistent?
