Peugeot 3008 check engine light rough idle
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 3008 is experiencing issues with the check engine light, rough idling, and increased fuel consumption. The initial suspicion is a faulty knock sensor, but similar symptoms could be caused by various issues. It is suggested to have the error codes read professionally to accurately diagnose the problem, as it might be a simple issue like a corroded cable connection to the knock sensor. A visit to a mechanic is recommended to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked for any specific codes beyond the check engine light. To be honest, I'm not really sure how to do that myself. And no other strange behaviours, just the uneven idling and the higher fuel consumption. What sensor was it on your 3008 when you had similar issues?

Okay, gotcha. Mine ended up being a faulty connection to the knock sensor! Apparently, the cable or plug was corroded. I'd suggest getting the codes read professionally. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact issue. Honestly, with those symptoms, you're probably looking at a visit to a mechanic anyway. My repair cost was 95€ for the replacement of the cable.

Alright, thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the error codes and the connections to the knock sensor. Hopefully, it's something simple like a faulty cable. I'll post what the solution is once it's sorted!

Hey! I've got a 3008 too, and that sounds familiar. When my check engine light came on along with rough idling, it turned out to be related to a sensor as well. Though, I'm a bit skeptical that it's just the knock sensor right off the bat. It could be, but those symptoms can be caused by a whole bunch of things. Have you checked for any other codes? Or noticed any other weird behavior?
