Thanks for the quick reply! I really appreciate it. Could you tell me which sensor it was on your Volvo? Or how you figured out it was the sensor and not the motor? I'm not very technically minded so any tips you can give me before I get fleeced at the garage would be amazing!

Honestly, I can't remember exactly which sensor it was. It was a while back, and Volvos are different beasts. But I remember the mechanic saying something about the diagnostic tool pinpointing the fault to a specific sensor in the brake system. I'd suggest getting a proper diagnostic check done. It might cost a bit, but it could save you from replacing the entire calliper if it's just a sensor issue. But prepare yourself – these electronic handbrakes can be a nightmare!

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, I needed a proper diagnostic check. The error was traced back to the electric motor in the brake calliper being defective. Total cost was 505€ including fitting a new calliper, but at least it's sorted now! Thanks again for your help!

Hey there! That sounds like a pain. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70, although it wasn't a hybrid. The electronic parking brake went haywire, and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. For me, it turned out to be a faulty brake sensor. Have you checked those? Could save you a fortune before replacing motors and such.
