Peugeot 3008 Intake Hose Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Peugeot 3008 with a gasoline engine experienced increased fuel consumption, a persistent check engine light, and a loud hissing noise during acceleration, suggesting an air intake leak. The suspected cause was a leak in the vacuum hose, potentially leading to engine misfire. A similar case was resolved by identifying a cracked intake hose, which was confirmed and repaired at a workshop for around 100€, resulting in restored engine performance and normal fuel consumption.

Thanks! Do you remember where the crack was on your intake hose? Was it near the air filter or closer to the engine intake manifold?

Now that you ask, I don't recall exactly. I'd suggest booking a workshop appointment to have a professional fix it. Cost me around 100€ in the end.

Thanks again! Based on your experience, I took my car to a workshop for analysis. As expected, the intake hose was leaking. After a 100€ repair, my Peugeot 3008 runs smoothly, with normal fuel consumption and no more check engine light!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Peugeot 3008: increased fuel consumption, check engine light, the works. For me, it was a cracked intake hose. The hissing you hear is probably air escaping. Easy to spot with the engine running, if you block the air filter.
