Peugeot 3008 NOx Sensor Faulty Connection
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Peugeot 3008 hybrid owner experienced a recurring check engine light, with diagnostics indicating a NOx sensor error and a noticeable exhaust smell. Suspecting a defective cable or plug connection, the issue was confirmed to be a faulty connector on the NOx sensor. After replacing the connector, the problem was resolved, and the check engine light was cleared.

Thanks for the tip! I did have a quick look at the connector, but didn't see anything obvious. Was there a specific part of the connector that caused the problem on your Volvo, or was it just generally corroded?

For me it looked alright at first glance, but the mechanic found a tiny crack in the plastic housing of the connector itself. Moisture got in and messed with the signal. Honestly, after diagnostics and sensor replacement, it cost me about 95€. I would recommend taking it to a shop to get it checked out properly.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Ended up taking it to the shop, and you were spot on - it was indeed a faulty connection on the NOx sensor. They replaced the connector, and the check engine light is gone. Problem solved!

Sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my 2016 Volvo XC60 diesel a while back. Same symptoms – check engine light, error codes pointing to the emission sensor. Did you check the sensor's connector? Sometimes they get corroded or loose.
