Thank you for your prompt response. I have indeed noticed a slight engine surge at lower speeds, which I initially dismissed as turbo lag. I have not yet inspected the transmission fluid. Is accessing the fill point straightforward on this model, or would you recommend a professional inspection to avoid potential complications?

Engine surge confirms my suspicions. While you could check the fluid yourself, given the grinding and slipping, plus the surge, I'd strongly advise against driving it much further. Get it to a shop ASAP for a proper diagnostic. Continuing to drive it will only make things worse, and potentially more expensive. These transmissions are complex, and you don't want to risk further damage. I'd bet money on a bad torque converter. Brace yourself for a hefty bill. My C5 cost me a bomb!

I appreciate your insights. Based on your recommendation and the escalating symptoms, I arranged for professional diagnostics. The workshop has confirmed a defective torque converter, necessitating replacement. The estimated repair cost is approximately 2120€. Thank you for your guidance.

Slipping and grinding? Ouch. Sounds expensive! My old Citroen C5 had similar symptoms a few years back. Turned out the torque converter was shot. Did you notice any engine surge or hesitation, especially at lower speeds? And have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Dark or burnt smelling fluid is a dead giveaway something's cooked inside.
