Peugeot 301 Boost Pressure Issue

I'm having issues with my 2015 Peugeot 301 diesel. The check engine light is on and engine power is reduced. I've also noticed poor engine response, a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing sound when accelerating, occasional engine stalls at idle, and increased fuel consumption. The car has 297560 km. Could this be a boost pressure issue?

That sounds like it could be boost-related. I had similar symptoms with my old Saab 9-3 – reduced power, whistling, eventually stalling. For me, it was a faulty bypass valve causing a boost leak. Have you checked any of the pressure sensors or looked for any obvious leaks in the boost system?

Thanks for your insight. I haven't checked the sensors directly, nor am I confident enough to diagnose a boost leak. Is it likely the sensors, or could it be the actuator itself?

It's difficult to say without a proper diagnostic. I can only suggest that the actuator valve of the turbocharger may be defective. Given the symptoms and mileage, plus my prior experience with a similar issue on a different car, it might be wise to take it to a workshop for a thorough check. They’ll be able to test the sensors, check for leaks, and diagnose the actuator properly.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a service station, and you were right; it was a defective electrical bypass valve. They replaced it, and the total repair cost came to 250€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
