Peugeot 301 brake light failure

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2016 Peugeot 301, gasoline engine. I'm getting a brake light failure error message on the infotainment system, and the brake lights aren't working. The error memory has stored an error too. Mileage is at 202606 km. Could it be a simple fuse or something? I haven't checked yet, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I had a similar problem with my old Volvo. It turned out to be the brake light switch. Did you check if the error disappears when you depress the brake pedal?

Interesting. No, I haven't checked if the error disappears when pressing the brake pedal. Where is the brake light switch located exactly? And is it something I can replace myself without special tools?

It's usually located near the top of the brake pedal. While you might be able to replace it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Could be a faulty replacement.

Thanks! I went to the workshop. Turns out it was the brake light switch indeed, and the error was logged because the pedal wasn't fully returning and pushing the switch. They adjusted the pedal, and now it's working perfectly. No cost, just a quick adjustment!
