Thanks for the tip! I did a quick visual inspection of the fuse box, but nothing jumped out. When you say 'connections around the steering wheel', are you referring to the cruise control switch itself, or something deeper inside the steering column?

Yes, I am referring to the cruise control switch itself, and the connections behind it. It might be a bit fiddly to get to, but definitely worth checking before you go any further. If you're not comfortable digging in there, your best bet is to get it checked out by a workshop. It's like trying to diagnose a heart murmur without a stethoscope; you might guess the problem, but you won't know for sure until you get a professional opinion.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to a local workshop, and it turned out to be a loose connection on the cruise control actuator, just like you suspected. They re-seated the connector and cleared the error code. Repair cost was 95€ Appreciate the advice!

I had a similar issue with my 301. The cruise control system relies on sensors and actuators. If one link is weak, the whole system fails. A common culprit can be a faulty connection, like you're thinking. Have you checked the fuse box and the connections around the steering wheel? A loose plug there can cause the entire system to shut down.
