Peugeot 301 immobilizer issue

My 2012 Peugeot 301 diesel won't start. It has about 102052 km on the clock. Sometimes it starts briefly, then cuts out immediately. I've got an error stored in the memory, and I suspect it's the immobilizer. Could it be that the key's programming is somehow incorrect? Has anyone experienced this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Peugeot 301 diesel was experiencing starting issues, suspected to be related to the immobilizer, as indicated by a flashing security light. The problem was identified as a key programming issue. The solution involved reprogramming the key at a local shop, which resolved the starting problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had similar starting problems with my 301. Does the security light flash or stay on?

Yes, the security light does flash. It's incredibly annoying. Was it definitely the immobilizer in your case? What did you end up doing to fix it?

Yep, it was the immobilizer. I tried a few basic things myself, but eventually took it to a workshop. They sorted it pretty quickly.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local shop, and they confirmed it was a key programming issue. They reprogrammed the key, and it cost me 45€. Starts perfectly now!
