Peugeot 301 reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Peugeot 301 diesel with 214,811 km experienced reduced engine power and a stored fault, raising concerns about a defective engine control unit (ECU). The issue was suspected to be related to the ECU, and a system reset was suggested as a potential solution. Ultimately, a workshop identified a defective main relay affecting the ECU, and after replacement, the vehicle's performance was restored.

Thanks! I haven't tried a system reset yet, but I can look into that. The error code points towards the engine control unit itself. Did your error code point to the control unit?

Yeah, mine did the same thing. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself if it's pointing to the ECU. I'd get it to a workshop to confirm. Could save you a bigger headache.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to a workshop, and you were right. The main relay was defective, messing with the ECU. 120€ later, and it's running perfectly again. Thanks!

Hey, I've got a 301 too. Reduced engine power and error messages sound familiar. Did you try a system reset? Could be something simple. What kind of error is stored exactly?
