Peugeot 301 Rich Running Condition

My 2020 Peugeot 301 with a gasoline engine (107186 km) is running excessively rich. I'm seeing reduced power, check engine light, rough idle, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. OBD-II readings confirm over-fueling. I've checked spark plugs and vacuum leaks. Could a faulty injection valve/injector be the cause, and what else should I check before replacing them?

I had similar symptoms with my 301: check engine light, rough running, and terrible fuel consumption. Have you checked the catalytic converter? Running rich for too long can damage it.

Thanks. Were you getting air-fuel mixture trouble codes before addressing the catalytic converter? Did you notice any unusual exhaust smells? I'm trying to figure out if the converter is the primary cause or a consequence of the rich running.

Yes, the OBD scanner reported issues with the air-fuel ratio. I also noticed a rotten egg smell sometimes. I'd advise a visit to a workshop; they'll be able to properly diagnose the source.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed a defective fuel injector causing the rich running. Replacing it, recalibrating, and testing resolved the issue. Total cost was 515€.
