Peugeot 301 TCU Failure

My 2012 Peugeot 301 with a gasoline engine is acting up at 92689 km. The TCU seems borked. Paddle shifters are dead, gearbox slips and makes a horrible grinding noise. Paddle shifter response is molasses-slow, and now it's stuck in emergency mode with an error code. Sounds like a defective control unit, yeah?

Dude, that sounds rough! I had a similar nightmare with my 301. Are you getting any specific error codes? When mine went haywire, it was doing similar stuff - slipping, weird noises, the whole shebang. Seriously annoying!

Yeah, it's throwing a code related to the TCU. Was yours definitely the TCU then? Did you try anything before replacing it?

Yup, mine was 100% the TCU. I messed around trying to reset it and stuff, but nothing worked. Bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They confirmed it pretty quick. Honestly, save yourself the headache and get it checked out professionally. Gearboxes are complicated beasts.
