Peugeot 307 (2009) with uneven engine running and loss of power - cause tank ventilation valve?

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Peugeot 307 (year 2009) gasoline engine and hope someone can help me. The engine runs unevenly, stutters when accelerating, loses power and sometimes stalls when idling. The check engine light also comes on. Could this be due to the tank ventilation valve? I'm looking forward to your tips and experiences, especially how the garage solved this for you. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A Peugeot 307 (2009) is experiencing uneven engine running, stuttering during acceleration, power loss, and occasional stalling, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion is a faulty tank ventilation valve, but other potential causes include clogged hoses or issues with the mass air flow sensor. A software update for the control unit might also be beneficial. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a garage to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Peugeot 308 (built in 2011). I don't have much experience with cars, but when it comes to solving problems, I always try my best. I had to take my Peugeot to the garage because the symptoms were very similar to what you are experiencing with your car. At first we thought it might be the tank vent valve, but in the end it was the hoses that were clogged. The garage cleaned them and charged me 175 euros for the job. That solved my problem and my Peugeot has been running smoothly and reliably ever since. Can you give me some more information about your car? Perhaps also when it was last serviced? That way I could help you even better. Hope that helps a little!

Hey, thanks for your help! My 307 now has 63916 KM on the clock and the last service was a month ago. I don't have any other obvious problems with the car, apart from what I've already mentioned... Hope this helps you!

Hey, with this additional info, I would definitely recommend checking the tank vent valve. But it could also be something else, such as the mass air flow sensor, as it can cause similar symptoms. In my Peugeot it was the clogged hoses, but there are many other possible causes. Perhaps a software update of the control unit could also help, as I have often read. Don't take my advice 100% seriously, I'm not a mechanic, I'm just sharing my own experience. In any case, it would be good if you could take your car to a garage again, especially as you say it was only serviced a month ago. Hopefully it's nothing serious and is fixed quickly! Good luck with it and please give us an update on what it ended up being.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the advice! I'll contact the garage and see if they can check out these options. I also hope it's nothing serious and can be fixed on a budget. Now I'm a bit reassured, thanks again! As soon as I have any news, I will of course let you know. See you then!
