Peugeot 307 ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor

I have a Peugeot 307 from 2002 with a diesel engine. Lately, the ABS lamp lights up, and the ABS system fails. I checked the error memory, and it indicates a fault with the lateral acceleration sensor. Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a defective control unit as suspected?

Hey! I know those symptoms! I had exactly the same problem on my 307 a while ago. Was the steering feeling a bit weird too? When this happened to me, it felt like the car was fighting me in the corners. Did you check the wheel alignment by any chance?

That's interesting! The steering does feel a bit off, now that you mention it. I haven't checked the wheel alignment yet. What was the eventual cause in your case? And what did it cost you to fix it?

Yep, sounds like the same issue I had. For me, the lateral sensor was sending dodgy signals to the ABS. Honestly, I’d recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Unfortunately, it ended up costing me around 1000€ because the electronic control unit was indeed faulty. It’s a safety thing, so better safe than sorry!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll book an appointment at the workshop to have it checked. I appreciate the help in pointing me in the right direction. Knowing your experience helps a lot!
