Peugeot 307 Brake Lights Error

My 2004 Peugeot 307 with a gasoline engine is throwing errors. The brake lights aren't working, and the infotainment system shows an error message. I scanned it, and there's an error stored related to the brake lights. Mileage is at 167377 km. I'm thinking it might be a dodgy switch, but I'm not sure where to start.

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Peugeot 307 was experiencing brake light failures and an error message on the infotainment system. The issue was suspected to be a faulty brake light switch. After troubleshooting, it was confirmed that the brake light switch was indeed the problem, and the owner successfully fixed it without incurring any costs.

I had something similar happen in my 307. Was it the tail light on both sides, or just one?

Good question! It's actually both brake lights that are out. Does that change anything? Where did you even start to troubleshoot?

Yep, sounds like the same issue I had. I would suggest going to a workshop for a switch replacement. It's probably the brake switch that's faulty.

Thanks! Turns out it was the brake light switch, exactly as you said. Somehow I managed to fix it myself; the error was user error on my part, and I am very grateful for the tip in the right direction! Cost me nothing!
