Peugeot 307 check engine light and idling issues

I've got a 2007 Peugeot 307 (gasoline engine) with about 200k kilometers on it, and the check engine light keeps popping up. I've noticed the engine sometimes stalls when idling, which is super annoying. I suspect it's something to do with the fuel tank ventilation system, maybe a leak somewhere. I've been reading online that a defective activated charcoal filter could be the culprit. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

I have a Peugeot 307 too, and I had a similar issue a while back. The check engine light was on, and the car was acting up at idle. Did you notice any difference in fuel efficiency or any unusual smells?

Thanks for the quick reply! Now that you mention it, the fuel efficiency does seem to have dipped a bit, and sometimes there's a faint smell of gasoline, especially right after filling up. Was it definitely the charcoal filter for you, or something else?

Based on those additional symptoms, it sounds almost certain it's the charcoal filter. I strongly suggest you bring the car to a workshop. They will be able to confirm it and replace the defective part. It will solve your problem.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop today, and they confirmed it was indeed the charcoal filter. Had it replaced, cost around 275€, and now the check engine light is gone, and the engine idles perfectly. Fuel efficiency seems to be back to normal too. Really appreciate your help!
