Peugeot 307 climate control malfunction

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2008 Peugeot 307 (gasoline engine). The automatic climate control is bonkers. It doesn't regulate the temperature. There's an error stored, and the AC refuses to kick on! I've checked forums and a faulty interior temperature sensor could be it. Also, a defective cable or plug might be the cause. Anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

The 2008 Peugeot 307 is experiencing issues with its automatic climate control system, which fails to regulate temperature and has an error stored, preventing the AC from activating. A faulty interior temperature sensor is suspected as a potential cause, along with possible defective cables or plugs. Checking the sensor's wiring harness for damage or loose connections is suggested, and replacing the sensor resolved the issue for another owner, costing around 95€ including labor.

I had a similar issue with my 307! Does it feel like the system is stuck on one temperature, regardless of what you set it to? I'm not a mechanic, but it sounds like your interior temperature sensor is worth investigating. Have you tried checking the sensor's wiring harness for damage or loose connections?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it's exactly as you described - feels stuck. I did a quick visual check of the sensor and the wiring near it, but I couldn't spot anything obvious. Where exactly is the interior temperature sensor located in the 307? Maybe I need to take a closer look with better lighting.

It's usually behind a small grille near the steering wheel or somewhere on the dash. I fiddled with mine for ages and got nowhere. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the sensor, replaced it, and I haven't had any issues since. Cost me about 95€ including labor.

Thanks a lot for the information! It sounds like I'm heading down the same road you did. I'll try to find the exact sensor location and give it another look, but I'm mentally preparing to visit the workshop. Good to know the approximate cost too, so I don't get ripped off! I took it to a workshop. They replaced the faulty sensor, and the AC is working perfectly now!
