Peugeot 307 Electric Steering Column Fault

Hi, I have a 2006 Peugeot 307 diesel with only 50320 km. My electric steering column adjustment is defective. The error is stored in the error memory, and the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Peugeot 307 diesel owner reported a defect in the electric steering column adjustment, suspecting a faulty cable or plug connection. The issue was confirmed by an error message indicating a general electrical fault. After checking the fuses, which were fine, it was suggested to visit a workshop for a precise diagnosis. The workshop identified and fixed a defective cable connection, resolving the problem.

Oh dear, that sounds rather inconvenient. Is it possible you could elaborate on the specific error message displayed? Often, even a minor discrepancy in voltage or resistance could manifest as a seemingly irreparable issue. Have you checked the relevant fuses? Those pesky things have a habit of causing chaos!

Yes, the error message points towards a general electrical fault in the adjustment system. I already checked the fuses; they seem fine. But could it really be just a loose connection? I don't want to spend money on a new motor if it's just that.

Ah, yes. A general electrical fault can be quite misleading, can't it? Considering you've checked the fuses, and suspect a connection issue, perhaps a visit to a workshop is warranted. They possess diagnostic tools far beyond the reach of us mere mortals, and could pinpoint the precise problem. Trying to fix this yourself might lead to further complications down the line, especially with delicate electronic systems such as these. Prevention is better than cure, as they say!

Thanks for the advice! I went to the workshop, and you were right. It was indeed just a defective cable connection. They fixed it for 95€ Appreciate your help!
