Peugeot 307 Gear Shift Indicator Problem

Hey, I have a 2003 Peugeot 307 diesel, and the gear shift indicator on the dash is acting up. It's showing gibberish, and sometimes it doesn't show anything at all. Now I can't engage the gears, I have implausible shifting behavior, the gearbox slips/shifts uncleanly, I get grinding noises when shifting gears and there is an error stored. Speedometer gear selection display shows nothing at all. Any ideas?

Strange one. I had something similar with my 307. Was the gear selection display also completely dead? Did the car feel like it was stuck in neutral even though it wasn't? For me it was the control unit.

Yeah, the gear selection display is dead, and that sounds exactly like what's happening. What did you do to fix it?

Sounds like the same issue then. I'm no expert, but I'd say that control unit is more than likely the culprit. Get it checked by a workshop. That's what I did and they said control unit was defective. Prepare to open your wallet though, cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted.

Thanks for the info. I took it to a garage, and they confirmed it was the control unit. Repair will cost the same as yours. At least I know what I'm in for.
