Peugeot 307 gearbox slipping ABS fault

My 2003 Peugeot 307 (gasoline engine) with 76087 km is having an issue. The transfer case seems stuck in limp mode, and the gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly. Diagnostic tools point towards consequential faults possibly stemming from the ABS system. Has anyone encountered something similar?

Sounds familiar. I've got a 307 too. A while back, the gearbox started acting up in a similar way - slipping. I also noticed the traction control light was on intermittently. Did you check for any diagnostic trouble codes beyond the ABS?

Yes, I've pulled the diagnostic trouble codes. It's showing a powertrain malfunction alongside the ABS issues. The gear selector seems to be functioning mechanically. Were your diagnostic trouble codes similar? Did the initial ABS issues appear before the gearbox problems manifested?

I didn't delve too deeply into the diagnostic trouble codes myself, but the symptoms were almost identical: gearbox issues starting after the ABS light came on sometimes. Given the complexity, and without proper equipment, the best idea is probably going straight to the workshop.

Understood. Thanks for confirming. Good news: the eventual repair cost was 0€. Oddly enough, after a thorough inspection and reset of the ABS module, the issue seems to have resolved itself. We'll see if it returns.
