Peugeot 307 high fuel consumption and poor start

I'm experiencing issues with my 2001 Peugeot 307 diesel. It's done 149549 km. I suspect a defective throttle valve. Fuel consumption is higher than usual, and the vehicle starts poorly. I've visually inspected the air intake but found nothing obvious. Could this be linked to the accelerator pedal module?

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I had similar issues with my old car. Higher fuel consumption is the worst. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body? Sometimes, it's just a build-up of gunk that messes things up. How does the engine idle when it's warm?

I haven't tried cleaning it yet. I will inspect the throttle body for gunk. If cleaning doesn't solve it, could a defective accelerator pedal module really be the culprit? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary part replacements.

Yeah, I've heard stories about those accelerator pedal modules causing weird issues. If cleaning the throttle body doesn't fix it, and you're still having problems, it might be best to get it checked out by a workshop. It's a pain, but at least they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice. You were right; cleaning didn't fix it. The workshop confirmed it was the accelerator pedal module. Repair cost me 205€. At least it's sorted now.
