Peugeot 307 oil pressure warning

Help! My 2005 Peugeot 307 (gasoline engine) is acting up. The speedometer shows a warning light, and the oil pressure lamp keeps turning on. Mileage is at 240157 km. Could it be an oil leak or something worse?

I had similar symptoms in my Peugeot 307. Have you checked when the last oil change was done? Oil contamination can cause these kinds of issues, especially if the maintenance interval was exceeded. What does the oil look like on the dipstick?

I think it's been a while since the last oil change, to be honest. How can I tell if it's contamination for sure? And what would happen if I keep driving like this?

In my case, the oil was very dark and sludgy, not the usual amber color. Driving with contaminated oil can seriously damage your engine. It's best to get it checked by a workshop as soon as possible. They will probably recommend an oil change and a new oil filter at minimum. Consider that the oil pressure sensor can also cause this issue.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – the oil was badly contaminated. They did an oil change, replaced the oil filter, and the warning lights are gone. Cost me 165€ Appreciate the help!
