Peugeot 307 start stop issue

My 2008 Peugeot 307 with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. It has 217225 km on the clock. The start-stop system is no longer working! The error memory has an error stored, the engine simply shuts off, and the speedometer shows a warning light. What could it be?

I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra, although it's a completely different car. The start-stop malfunctioned there too. Does the engine cut out at traffic lights or in similar situations and then refuse to restart automatically? Or does it not switch off at all?

Yes, exactly! The engine shuts off, but it does not start again automatically! I then have to turn the key again. Could it really be the same problem as with your Opel?

It sounds very similar to what I experienced. In my case, the workshop determined that the battery was heavily discharged and defective because the start-stop system places quite high demands on the battery. If the battery is weak, the system will be deactivated. I would recommend that you have it checked at a workshop. They will probably find the cause quickly.

Many thanks for the tip! Then I will visit a workshop as soon as possible and have the battery checked. I also suspect the starter motor, but I hope it's 'just' the battery. The repair including the new battery ultimately cost me 290€. Best regards!
