Peugeot 307 Starting Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2001 Peugeot 307 diesel. Terminal 30, for continuous plus, is being interrupted, and the car struggles to start. I suspect a discharged or defective battery. Mileage is 94567 km. I've checked for voltage drops and fuse box anomalies, but the problem remains. Could a faulty circuit breaker or wiring harness fault be the cause? Has anyone seen this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar headache with my 307. Intermittent starting issues are a pain. Have you checked the earth points? A bad ground can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. Also, give the battery terminals a good clean – corrosion can build up and mess with the connection. Is it completely dead or just struggling?

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you say more about the earth points you checked, where they are, and if you saw any corrosion or damage? Also, did any other electrical components act strangely along with the starting issues?

Yeah, the earth points were the ones near the battery and on the engine block. They looked okay at first glance, but cleaning them made a difference. But honestly, after all that messing about, I just took it to a workshop in the end. Turned out to be something weird with the ECU power supply. Saved me a lot of time and stress!

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Given the complexities, seeking professional help is probably best. It turned out to be a defective battery, heavily discharged due to an unknown electrical fault. The repair cost was 290€. I'm grateful for your input, which validated my initial suspicions and steered me towards a practical resolution.
