Peugeot 308 ABS Lateral Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A Peugeot 308 is experiencing an ABS light issue due to a reported lateral acceleration sensor failure. The control unit is suspected as the likely cause. Another person suggests checking the steering angle sensor, as faults in these sensors can be interconnected within the electronic stability program (ESP). The recommendation is to have the vehicle properly diagnosed by a workshop to identify the exact issue and resolve the warning light problem.

Steering angle sensor? How was that involved? I'd been focused on the lateral acceleration sensor.

Well, on my Astra, apparently, the two sensors work together for the electronic stability program (ESP). The workshop told me that a fault in one can trigger errors in the other. Honestly, I'd just take it to a trusted workshop to get properly diagnosed. In the end, it cost me a small fortune. But at least I got rid of the blasted warning lights!

Thanks, I'll book a diagnostic appointment. Good to know about the lateral acceleration and steering angle sensors being linked in the ESP system. I will post what they find. They have told me to expect a bill for around 1000€.

Sounds rough! I had almost the EXACT same thing happen with my old Opel Astra. ABS light, the whole shebang. They told me it was the lateral sensor too. Did you check the steering angle sensor? That was part of the problem on mine.
