Peugeot 308 Active Hood Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Peugeot 308 displayed an 'Active hood fault' message, with the airbag warning lamp on and spring actuators deployed. The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective acceleration sensor within the active hood system. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the acceleration sensor was indeed faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem.

By triggered, I mean the actuators indeed deployed. Could this deployment, coupled with the error messages and airbag light, all point to an acceleration sensor malfunction within the active hood system? I'm trying to ascertain if replacing that specific sensor is a logical first step.

Ouch, deployed ones are serious. It definitely sounds like the acceleration sensor is the prime suspect, especially with the airbag light on too – it's all part of the safety system. Messing with airbags is risky. I think you should take it to a workshop.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. Following your advice, I took the car to a workshop; the acceleration sensor was indeed defective. Repair, including parts and labor, cost 315€. Everything is now functioning correctly.

That sounds like a pain! I've heard of active hood faults messing with other systems. When you say 'spring actuators triggered,' do you mean they actually deployed, or just the error message is showing?
