Peugeot 308 automatic transmission converter issue

Hi, I have a 2007 Peugeot 308, gasoline engine, with 227277 km. The check engine light and transmission indicator are on. The gearbox slips, shifts badly, and there are grinding noises sometimes. Error memory says it's the automatic transmission converter. Anyone seen this before?

Wow, sounds rough. I have a 308 too, and something similar happened to me last year. Slipping gears and a horrible grinding noise... It was awful! Did you notice if it happens more when the car is cold or hot? And does it seem to be worse at certain speeds?

It seems to happen more often when the engine is warm. And it's more noticeable when I accelerate from around 50-70 km/h. Does this sound familiar to what you had?

Yep, almost exactly the same! For me it was a defective torque converter lock-up clutch. Honestly, I'd take it to a shop that specializes in transmissions. It's probably not something you can fix yourself unless you REALLY know your way around automatics. The diagnosis was a faulty converter, and the final repair cost was around 2120€. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it's the torque converter. Looks like I'm in for an expensive repair.
