Error codes? Where would I check for that? And is the fuel pressure regulator something I could check myself, or is it more of a mechanic type of thing?

The error codes can be read with an OBD2 scanner. Many auto parts stores will scan it for free. As for checking the fuel pressure regulator, it's not really a DIY job unless you have the right tools and experience. You could try checking the wiring harness to the regulator, but honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. A bad regulator can cause all sorts of fuel efficiency problems and even damage the fuel pump, like a domino effect.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was the fuel pressure regulator. Error entry after the filter change was the likely cause. Cost me 45€, but at least it's fixed!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms – check engine light, stalling – with my old Opel Astra. It turned out to be a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Changing the fuel filter might have dislodged some sediment, which then messed with the regulator. Think of it like a clogged artery after a sudden burst of activity. Have you checked the error codes?
