Thanks for the quick reply! Spark plugs were changed during the last service, about 5000 km ago. I do believe I felt some misfires. Can you explain why a faulty crank sensor would cause all these problems?

The crankshaft sensor provides crucial data to the engine control unit (ECU), telling it the exact position and speed of the crankshaft. This info is vital for timing the fuel injection and ignition. If the sensor is faulty, the ECU receives incorrect or no data, leading to mistimed injections/ignition = misfires, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption. You may need to go to the workshop, and have them check the crank sensor.

Thanks a lot! My local mechanic confirmed it was indeed the crankshaft sensor. Repair cost me 340€. All the symptoms are gone now! I really appreciate your help!

It certainly sounds like a crank sensor issue, especially with those symptoms on your 308. The engine light combined with power loss and fuel inefficiency points towards the ECU struggling to get the correct readings from the crankshaft. When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? Also, have you noticed any unusual vibrations or misfires?
