Peugeot 308 Diesel Engine Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Peugeot 308 diesel experienced engine issues, including a check engine light, rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a defective fuel pressure sensor or faulty cable/plug connection. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a defective fuel pressure sensor connector, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

I haven't checked the fuel pump relay, but I will add it to my list. I found the fuel pressure sensor mentioned online as a possible cause based on the symptoms. You mentioned a similar issue. Was it indeed the fuel pressure sensor, or something else entirely?

Yeah, in my case, the workshop identified a defective fuel pressure sensor. Seriously, stop troubleshooting, just go to a workshop!

I took it to the workshop, and you were correct. The fuel pressure sensor was indeed defective, or rather the connector. The repair cost me 95€. The car is now running smoothly again.

Good evening. I want to buy a 2021 Peugeot 308 diesel. I understand that this particular car has both a timing belt and a timing chain. I also understand that Peugeot, in trying to improve the car in the camshaft area, ended up having a problem, resulting in the chain breaking very quickly (around 50,000 kilometers). And the worst part is that it's not just the chain that needs replacing, it's a package deal with the camshafts. So the cost in this case amounts to €1200. I also hear that it has a problem with the fuel injectors. Is all this true? If not, would you recommend this car for purchase? Thank you in advance for your answer.

It's true that some Peugeot models have experienced issues with timing chains and fuel injectors. However, these problems are not universal to all vehicles. Before purchasing, I recommend checking the specific vehicle's service history for any past issues or repairs related to these components. Additionally, consider having a trusted mechanic perform a pre-purchase inspection to assess the condition of the timing chain and fuel injectors. This can help you make a more informed decision. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my 308. Rough idle, engine stalling... the whole shebang. Have you checked the fuel pump relay? Also, maybe it's an engine misfire? Where did you read about the fuel pressure sensor?
