Peugeot 308 diesel particulate filter issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Peugeot 308 diesel with 101,737 km is experiencing reduced power and smoke during acceleration, likely due to a diesel particulate filter (DPF) issue. The engine light is on, and the vehicle is primarily used for short urban trips, which can prevent proper DPF regeneration, leading to blockage. A forced regeneration might help, but professional inspection is recommended. Ultimately, the DPF was confirmed to be blocked, requiring replacement.

Yes, the engine light is on. I mostly do short, urban trips. Could that be causing it?

Definitely. Short trips don't let the diesel particulate filter regenerate properly, which causes buildup and faults. Sounds like it's blocked. You could try a forced regeneration, but I'd get it checked by a workshop. I had to replace mine, cost a fortune!

Thanks for the info. I took it to a workshop, and it was the diesel particulate filter. The backpressure was too high. The replacement cost me 1550€.

I had a similar problem with my 308 diesel. Reduced power and smoke are classic symptoms. Is the engine light on? Also, do you usually do short trips or longer journeys?
