Peugeot 308 hybrid generator issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Peugeot 308 hybrid experienced reduced engine power, rough starts, flickering lights, and a warning light, suggesting a potential generator issue. The problem was suspected to be a faulty generator, which can cause such symptoms. It was advised to check the battery voltage while the engine is running, aiming for a range of 13.5 to 14.5 volts, to confirm the generator's functionality. Ultimately, the generator was replaced, resolving the issues.

Good shout. Where exactly should I be measuring the voltage, and what reading am I looking for as a healthy range?

Measure directly at the battery terminals with the engine idling. A healthy charging system should maintain a voltage between 13.5 and 14.5 volts. Anything significantly below this range while the engine is running suggests the generator isn't charging effectively and could be defective. Given the symptoms, a visit to a qualified workshop is advisable for a definitive diagnosis.

Thanks. Appreciate the advice. Turns out it was indeed the generator. Cost me 960€ to replace it. All good now.

Faulty generators can produce a constellation of issues. Have you checked the voltage across the battery terminals while the engine is running? A significant voltage drop could indicate a failing charging system, potentially linked to the generator. Also, inspect the serpentine belt for wear or slippage, as it drives the generator.
