Peugeot 308 immobilizer issue

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2023 Peugeot 308 hybrid. It's got about 115k km on the clock and lately, it's been refusing to start. Sometimes it cranks and fires up for a second before dying immediately. Other times, it just doesn't even try. I plugged in an OBD reader and it's throwing an error related to the immobilizer. Could it be a key problem? I’ve only got the one. I tried checking the battery and fuses, but no luck. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane a few years back. Engine would start, then die right away. Turned out to be a dodgy connection in the immobilizer system. Does your reader give you any specific codes? If it's pointing to the immobilizer, could be the key isn't being properly recognized by the ignition control.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, the code is something like 'invalid key signal' or 'immobilizer active'. I'll have to double-check the exact wording when I get back to the car. Where exactly was the connection issue on your Megane? I’m thinking of giving the wiring a quick check before taking it to a workshop.

On the Megane, it was a loose connection in the wiring harness near the receiver coil around the ignition barrel. Honestly, unless you're comfortable tracing wires and using a multimeter, I'd suggest getting it checked by someone who knows what they're doing. Messing with the anti-theft system could cause more headaches. Best to get the key reprogrammed professionally, I think.

Appreciate the advice! I booked it in and it turned out the key needed reprogramming. Cost me 45€ and they fixed it. Thanks again for the help!
