Peugeot 308 Knock Sensor Issue

Hi, I have a 2020 Peugeot 308 with a gasoline engine, currently at 69907 km. Recently, the check engine light came on, and I've noticed higher fuel consumption and uneven idling. A diagnostic points towards a defective knock sensor. Could the issue stem from a simple cable or plug connection problem?

Interesting, sounds like an issue I had with my Opel Astra a while back! Though the cars are different, the symptoms are awfully similar. Was the diagnostic super specific, or just a general knock sensor code? Have you checked the sensor's wiring harness for any obvious damage or corrosion?

Thanks for your reply! The diagnostic was quite specific, pointing directly to the knock sensor signal being out of range. I haven't had a chance to deeply inspect the wiring harness yet, but based on your experience with the Astra, do you think this is something I should attempt myself, or is it best left to the professionals?

Given that the diagnostic is specific and you're seeing those symptoms, the defective knock sensor is likely the culprit. Considering that you're not familiar with such repairs, I would advise against a DIY fix. It's best to take it to a trusted workshop to have the cable and plug connection properly diagnosed and, if needed, the sensor replaced.

Thanks a lot for your advice! I took the car to the workshop and as you suggested, the cable connection of the knock sensor was defective. They repaired it for 95€, and now everything is running smoothly again. I appreciate your help!
