Thanks for your input. I did check the cable connections and everything seems correctly plugged in. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery though. Is it safe to do so with all the electronics in modern cars? Could it cause any issues with the control module?

I understand your concern. Disconnecting the battery can sometimes cause minor issues, but it's generally safe. But honestly, if the connections seem fine, and a reset doesn't fix it, it's likely a deeper problem. At this point, I'd say it is best to get it checked out by a professional. They'll have the right tools to diagnose it properly.

Thanks! I took it to the workshop and you were right: it was a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. They replaced the faulty cable and the multifunction steering wheel is working again. The repair cost 95€ Thanks again for your help!

Steering wheel issues can be tricky. Have you checked the cable connections under the steering wheel? A loose or faulty connection there might cause the error. Also, have you tried resetting the car's computer by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes? Maybe that could clear the error.
