Peugeot 308 Overheating Slow Warmup

I'm having some trouble with my 2023 Peugeot 308 gasoline engine. It's done 18169 km. I'm experiencing engine overheating and it's also taking a very long time for the engine to reach its normal operating temperature. I've checked the coolant level, which is fine, and I don't see any obvious leaks. Could this be a thermostat issue? Any ideas?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my 308. Overheating is never good. Have you checked if your cooling fan is kicking in when the engine gets hot? It could also be the water pump, but more likely the thermostat.

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't checked the cooling fan specifically. Is there a way to test the thermostat to be sure? I'm trying to avoid just replacing parts without knowing for certain.

Testing thermostats can be tricky without proper tools. Given the symptoms, and especially the slow warm-up, it really does point to a thermostat issue. It's probably stuck open. Honestly, based on my experience, and what I've heard, it's worth getting it checked out by a workshop. Could save you a lot of trouble!

Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll take it to a workshop to have the thermostat checked out. The slow warm-up makes sense, actually. Will post the outcome. It was the map thermostat, causing the cooling circuit to fail. 350€ for the repair!
