Peugeot 308 Transmission Fault

Hoping someone can help. I have a 2021 Peugeot 308 diesel with 200k km. Lately, the engine warning light keeps coming on, and I'm getting a 'transmission fault' error. The car's gone into emergency mode a couple of times, and the shifting feels really rough, almost like it's slipping sometimes. I've even heard some grinding sounds when changing gears. A diagnostic check said it's a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. Anyone experienced anything similar?

I had a similar issue with my 308. Same symptoms: warning lights, rough shifting, the whole shebang. The diagnostic pointed to the same sensor. Check your gearbox oil level. A low oil level can trigger that sensor fault and cause all sorts of shifting problems. It's a simple check you can do yourself.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's good to know. I'll check the oil level, but where exactly is the gearbox oil reservoir located, and what kind of oil do I need to top it up with?

I'm afraid I don't know the exact location of the reservoir on your specific engine, sorry. And the oil type is very specific. Best bet is to take it to a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the issue and top up the oil correctly. If the level's fine, then it probably is the sensor, and they can replace that too.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – the gearbox oil was really low. They topped it up, reset the sensor, and everything seems to be running smoothly now. The final bill was 365€.
