Thanks for the quick reply! You nailed it – starts fine cold, then the issues creep in. Fuel efficiency has definitely taken a hit too. So, you reckon it's definitely the high pressure pump and not just the regulator itself? Did you have the same symptoms? How much did it set you back?

Based on your symptoms and mileage, yeah, sounds like the pump. The regulator is usually a part of the pump assembly anyway. I tried a bunch of things before finally biting the bullet and replacing the whole unit. To be honest, I don't remember the cost exactly, but it wasn't cheap. It's a pretty involved job, so I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. They'll be able to confirm the diagnosis and give you an accurate quote.

Cheers for the advice! I took it to the garage, and you were spot on. The high pressure pump was indeed defective, causing the fuel volume regulator to malfunction. New pump and labor set me back 1510€, but she's running like a dream now. Appreciate the help!

Hey, I had similar issues with my 4007! Though it seems like it could be the high pressure pump. Does the car start ok in the morning, but then act up after it warms up? It could be the pump struggling to keep up the pressure when it's hot. How's your fuel efficiency been lately?
