Thanks for the quick reply. I have not checked the brake sensor specifically, but I ran a general diagnostic check which flagged the parking brake malfunction. When you say similar, do you mean the electric motor was indeed the issue, and what was the resolution?

Yes, the garage confirmed it was the electric motor in the brake calliper on my Volvo. Unfortunately, it needed replacing. I would recommend getting it checked by a qualified mechanic to confirm, as vehicle safety should be priority number one with brake issues.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed that the electric motor in the brake calliper was faulty. Repair cost came to 505€ Hopefully this will sort it out.

I had a similar issue with my Volvo V70 a few years back. The symptoms sound very familiar. Did you check the brake sensor? It might be worth checking the diagnostics, but from my experience it sounds like the electric motor of your handbrake might be the culprit.
